Thelma Gamble Nelson

Mineral Springs, AR

Thelma Gamble Nelson was born to the late Isom and Mel Gamble on October 1, 1925.  She was the oldest of four children.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who shared her warmth and compassion for 93 years of life; leaving this life for eternal glory on May 10, 2019.

She attended Howard County Training School in Tollette.

Thelma confessed Christ at an early age and joined Corinth Baptist Church.

She worked for Tyson Foods until she retired.

Thelma had one son, Louis Richards.

She united in Holy Matrimony to Babe Ruth Nelson.  To this union they adopted Norma Jo Hendrix.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Isom and Mel Gamble; two brothers, Major Gamble, Sr. and James Gamble; her husband, Babe Ruth Nelson; son, Louis Richards and daughter, Norma Jo Hendrix.

Those mourning Thelma’s passing, yet cherishing her beautiful memories include: her one granddaughter, April Ragland of North Little Rock, Arkansas; five grandsons, Kennon Ragland of Tollette, Arkansas, Ralph and Louis Richards both of Graves Chapel, Arkansas, Winfred Lewis of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Charlie Coulter of CenterPoint, Arkansas; one brother, Climmie Lee (JoEvelyn) Gamble of Vallejo, California and many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren.  She also leaves a host of uncles, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 1-5pm Friday at the funeral home.  Funeral service will be 11am Saturday, May 18, 2019 at First Church of God in Tollette.  Burial will be at Crofton Cemetery in Tollette.  Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
