33rd Blevins BBQ Benefit for Children’s a Big Success

The 33rd Annual Blevins Community Area-Wide Benefit Barbecue is in the books and it was another successful year for the long-running fundraiser for Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
According to Don Honea said the barbecue, auction and rifle raffle brought in a little over $12,000 this year, bringing the total raised for the research hospital to over $332,000 since it started in 1986.
Honea said that more than 500 people were fed during the event and the auction and Bear Creek Boys performance were big hits, as always.
The auction featured a variety of things including donated items, homemade cakes and, as is tradition, every last piece of food, condiments and beverages left over after the feast. Honea said cakes at the auction went for between $100-$200.
Honea said everyone involved with the yearly fundraiser were very grateful to everyone who helped and attended. Honea said, “We want to give a big “Thank You’ to the community and businesses which supported us and the area churches that helped us out. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to put on the fundraiser.”
Plans are already being made for next year’s benefit for Children’s Hospital, which will be held Saturday, May 2, 2020. Honea said that anyone who is interested in donating items for the auction or contributing can contact him at 870-703-7421.
