Josh Williams of the Hempstead County Bicentennial Committee has issued the following public statement:
“The next Bicentennial meeting will be on the first Monday of February 4 at 6pm at Tailgaters meeting room.
Thank you to everyone for your support in many ways in regards to the bicentennial celebration. With the birthday celebration behind us there is still some final projects to complete after we have paid our initial expenses with bicentennial celebration.
We have the time capsule that is being completed and then also historical markers for the different communities in the county. We should have final reports and examples of markers ready by the first of February for everyone to review and approve.
Also there are still some tshirts left and they have been marked down to $10 a piece at the Chamber. Silver coins can be ordered by contacting Keenan Williams for $50 a piece. They will be closing the order for the coins before the end of this month.”
