Arkadelphia City Board lacks quorum, so meeting no go

Board has to further delay filling the Ward 2 position

By Stephen Yates for SWARK Today

After a brief six minute round of announcements Tuesday night, the Arkadelphia Board of Directors had to be dismissed with no votes or decisions made on current ordinances as the board did not have a legal quorum to proceed with official business.

Directors Scott Byrd, Joann Nelson, and Roland Gosey were all absent Tuesday night, and the Ward 2 Position remains vacated.

The main topic scheduled on the agenda was the hearing and voting of a new director to fill the Ward 2 position on the board. Two candidates, Mr. Paul Bryant and Mr. Mark Raney, are currently up for the board’s consideration. The vote has been postponed to the next meeting on November 6, where a new member will be sworn in by Judge Randy Hill.

Any questions or letters of interest in the Ward 2 Director’s position can be sent to the City Clerk’s office at 700 Clay St., Arkadelphia, AR 71923. Check the city website or contact the City Clerk’s office for more information.
