LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Health Insurance Marketplace (AHIM) has expanded its toll-free HelpLine to better assist Arkansans in finding affordable health insurance coverage.
Open enrollment in the state’s My Arkansas Insurance Individual Marketplace started November 1. The program provides health insurance plans for individuals who do not have access to employer-provided insurance and will use the federal enrollment platform on Healthcare.gov.
AHIM’s My Arkansas HelpLine utilizes an approach that combines call-center and Navigator functions and connects consumers with in-person assistance and enrollments to be performed by a qualified agent or broker located in the same area as the consumer.
The toll-free My Arkansas HelpLine, at 1-844-355-3262, can help provide assistance Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Individual plans available through the Arkansas Health Insurance Marketplace (AHIM) website, myARinsurance.com, are designed to meet the needs of Arkansas families and provide a variety of options to fit household budgets. Each plan from which to choose provides comprehensive benefits and is administered by trusted insurance providers.
The most important features of each plan available through the Marketplace include no restrictions for pre-existing conditions and no lifetime limits. Also included are standard health care benefits such as inpatient care, outpatient services, and prescription drugs. The importance of preventative care and screenings, most of which do not require a co-payment, are also emphasized.
Additionally, financial help is available to help pay for the cost of insurance.
“The HelpLine is an essential tool to help Arkansans through the process of selecting the health insurance options that are right for them,” said Angela Lowther, AHIM Executive Director. “It also provides the ability to connect enrollees directly with agents and brokers throughout the state.
Arkansas Health Insurance Marketplace (AHIM) was created to manage and implement a state-based health insurance exchange in Arkansas in accordance with state and federal law. AHIM was established by the 89th Arkansas General Assembly 2013 Regular Session by ACT 1500 and is a nonprofit public benefit corporation. My Arkansas Insurance is the state-based exchange established and managed by AHIM.
AHIM is governed by the Arkansas Health Insurance Marketplace Board of Directors. Members of the AHIM Board are appointed by the Governor, President Pro Tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The AHIM Board reports to the Arkansas Health Insurance Marketplace Legislative Oversight Committee.
