FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Following a historic season on the competition floor, the Razorback gymnastics team is also being recognized for its efforts in the classroom as 13 Gymbacks have been named Scholar All-Americans by the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA), the organization announced on Wednesday.
To earn a Scholar All-America spot, athletes must have a cumulative or year-long GPA of 3.5 or above. Arkansas’ 13 gymnasts on the list, 72 percent of the roster, matches a program record set in 2021 and the fourth season with 10+ Scholar All-America honorees under head coach Jordyn Wieber.
The team finished the year with a team GPA of 3.656, which ranks 33rd among NCAA gymnastics programs and third in the SEC. It is also the highest team GPA since 2021, and second-highest in program history. In five seasons under Wieber, Arkansas’ average annual GPA stands at 3.576.
Chandler Buntin, Reese Drotar, Kalyxta Gamiao, Emma Kelley, Jensen Scalzo, and Lauren Williams all recorded 4.0s in the 2023-24 academic year. Dakota Essenpries, Maddie Jones, Sirena Linton, Priscilla Park, Frankie Price, Leah Smith and Cally Swaney round out the list for the Gymbacks.
In addition to the WCGA nods, Arkansas received 16 total SEC academic awards between the Winter Honor Roll and First Year Honor Roll.
