The motif was visible throughout the venue with special pieces that made for amazing photo ops. In the middle, an actual DeLorean DMC was on display, adorned with a giant balloon arc. There was also a cozy seating area with a lighted BBB sign in one corner and an actual spinning photo booth in the other. The crowd had great fun with each click of the camera and danced the night away to the live tunes of amazing Chasing Rita.
A variety of auction items were available for the crowd to bid on. These included a lash lift and tint, skin care items, fine jewelry, Razorback tickets, an amazing vacation getaway, a Skyline Spinner Carry On, and a Genesis LED Skateboard. Vendors lined the walls with art, T-shirts, hats, and more. Raffle tickets were bought in abundance for a chance to win a beautiful diamond earring set as well as two separate stunning diamond bracelets.
Proceeds of the Beads, Bags, and Bangles annual event go to the UAHT Foundation, which supports Kids College and Camp Save-A-Life programs. These programs are designed for students entering first through eighth grade.
UAHT Foundation Director Robin Hickerson said, “I want to thank everyone who attended and donated to last night’s Beads, Bags, Bangles, and Leap Back to the Future event. Everyone had a wonderful time listening to live music, dancing, and eating delicious food while raising money for a great cause. One reason BBB has had such sustained success is that the funds raised support scholarships and supplies for Kids’ College at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana, which has been a staple in our community for almost 20 years. If you missed the fun this year, I hope you make plans to attend next year’s event to help support Kids’ College. I would also like to thank the BBB Committee and all those who worked diligently to make this year’s event a success.”
The venue was packed with many members of the community who showed up to support the fundraiser, and a list of sponsors was on display that demonstrated just how many businesses, organizations, and individuals assisted in making the event happen. The night was filled with the fun and fellowship of a community coming together for a worthy cause. The best result of all though will occur this summer, when Kids College and Camp Save -A- Life open their doors, and another group of eager, excited children will soar into their own future by participating in a summer enrichment program full of knowledge, imagination, and creativity.
