As we near the end of 2022 and reflect on this past year, we are so grateful to be a news provider in these amazing communities of Southwest Arkansas! For our 2022 year-end review, viewers will get to hear from your favorite SWARKansans about their favorite projects of the year and what made them so special! Today's staff pick is from Dillan!
Out of all the many projects we've done throughout 2022 at SWARK.Today, there is one specific project that brought me the most joy to be a part of. This year's third annual breast cancer interview segment “I am a Survivor,” would have to be my top pick. It was the best and my personal favorite part of my job this year. Getting to sit down with survivors, listen to them tell their story and then further provide them with the opportunity to share it with more than just April and me in the studio, is always a really heartwarming experience. Not only that, the aspect of sitting down with my teammates and planning, filming, editing, and coming up with this year's look, theme and interview questions, was the funnest of times, as well. I hope that when the survivors left our studio or saw the finished product of their interview, they felt at least a little lifted up in praise for the battle they’ve fought and won. I also hope that it provides understanding to individuals who might be currently struggling with breast cancer, that they have a fighting chance and it is worth the work to become cancer free. There are of course many other projects I looked forward to, such as 20 Under 50, our spotlight magazine highlighting people who have done incredible things in our community. Letters to Santa Edition, where we took sweet letters from children written to Santa and published it for all to read. But out of it all, “I am a Survivor” topped the cake for me this year. In case you missed it, or have yet to find time to watch, I have it provided below for you.
