Prescott- At 6PM in the Middle School Cafeteria, the Prescott Curley Wolves Athletic Banquet were underway, and the All-Conference and All-State awards began piling in. It was a great year for Lady Wolves and Curley Wolves sports. The Football team finished with an 11-1 record, the Cheer Squad began competitions this year, Lady Wolves and Curley Wolves Hoops are definitely on the rise, Golf is looking for a return trip to state, Cross Country looks to compete in the State event and perhaps crown a 3A champion, Coach Godwin and the Lady Wolves Softball team advanced to regionals for the first time in a long time. Coach McCauley and the Diamond Wolves made it to the 2nd round of the State tourney once again, and the Lady Wolves Track Team was the State Runner-up in 3A, first time in over 10 years they have finished top 2 in the State Meet. Prescott Boys Track & Field team once against reigned supreme as they claimed their 6th consecutive State Championship. I began covering Prescott sports for SWARK in February, so I missed out on all Fall sports and basketball season, but definitely looking forward to next season to help spread the news about all the athletic success from this great community of Prescott.
Coach Poole constantly speaks very highly on the athletes in the athletic program, but every time we speak about athletic achievements, he insists on speaking on how great this group of athletes are in the classroom, in the community, and just how the student-athletes carry themselves in a respectable manner in their day-to-day lives. Coach Glass speaks highly as well of the hard-work and determination these Curley Wolves show throughout the week in preparation for the games and meets.
Great success this season in the program, including Rocco Patrick, who won 1st place in every Shot Put and Discus event this Track season. He also won the Meet of Champions this past week in both Shot Put and Discus, which consist of the best throwers from the state of Arkansas no matter the classification. A huge shoutout to the Senior Class of Curley Wolves Football players, only lost 3 games their entire football careers at Prescott with a 67-3 record. The fewest losses for any class to ever come through Prescott. Also, a senior class that is sending multiple student-athletes to college on athletic scholarships. Mazie Bright, SAU Cheer, Carston Poole, SAU Baseball, Ra’Shawn Bell, Football Coffeyville CC, and Travion Dickens, Football Army. The 2023 Class of Prescott athletes as a whole, were filled with not only great on-field achievements, but also the young adults these athletes have become throughout their tenure at Prescott should recognized. Another great season of Prescott Athletics is in the books, but another great season starts this Summer, stay tuned.
