54th Jonquil Festival now underway

Jonquils brighten things up today in Old Washington as the festival that bears their name gets started.

Another sign of oncoming spring has arrived, as the Jonquil Festival is now laid out across the grounds of Old Washington State Park. About two dozen vendors are set up outdoors and another 20 are offering their wares in the crafts barn.

Among the items you can buy there as of this morning: political flags and license plates, bags of freeze-dried ice cream of all flavors, bird feeders, blankets with realistic horses depicted on them, sirloin burgers, tie-dye t-shirts, candles with scents like Warm Blanket, cedar trunks and crosses that say Jesus underneath in the empty spaces (you’ll see what I mean), local honey, shirts that honor the mercurial Yellowstone character Beth Dutton, Juanita’s Peanut Brittle and much more. The vendors will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The schedule of activities for Saturday and Sunday can be found just below.
