76th Hope Lions Club Christmas Auction starts Thursday night at Fair Park Coliseum

76th Hope Lions Club Christmas Auction starts Thursday night at Fair Park Coliseum
As is traditional in the first week of December, the Hope Lions Club will be staging another of their Christmas Auctions.  This year is the 76th version of their three-night event that starts Thursday, December 4th at 6:00 p.m. at the Fair Park Coliseum.

If you're coming out to bid on items donated by merchants and individuals local and regional, you need not dine first.  Volunteers from the Hope Evening Lions will have many scrumptious entrees to choose from, including chili, chicken and dumplings, soups, frito pies and numerous others.  For dessert there will be numerous homemade baked goods and cookies.

On Wednesday evening, Hope Lions Mark Ross and Mark Keith took part in a run-through of items up for bid in the next few days.  The video is just below photos taken of preparations by Lions and Evening Lions the night before the big event starts.

Proceeds from the auction will go toward putting together boxes of Christmas groceries to local low-income households.  Applications for these boxes can be filled out at the Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce office, Caney Creek Estates' office and at the auction itself.  The deadline for receipt of these is noon December 8th.
