870 FC Claims 1st Watermelon Soccer Tournament Title
Hope- It was a long, hot day on the pitch for the first ever Watermelon Soccer Tournament on Saturday. As 870 FC claimed the championship with a win over the Bobcats in the Finals on Saturday evening. Manny Retana assembled a great team that proved to be a difficult opponent for the other teams in the tourney. The 870 FC squad was made up of Manuel Retana, Aniell Felipe, Josh Ramos, Gilberto Dominguez, Daniel Marrufo, Luis Retana, Aryell Felipe, Bladimir Mosqueda, Sebastian Reyna, and Ca Shunn Harris. There was a lot of local talent on display, including a lot of Hope graduates, as well as other footballers from DeQueen, Texarkana, and other places around SW Arkansas. A good amount of Hope High School Players participated in the event as well, a couple current players in Aniell Felipe and Josh Ramos played on 870 FC, which won the tourney. Many more players were on the Bobcats and a couple of more spread out on the other teams. Edmunodo Dominguez of the Bobcats coaching staff put on a great tournament and we all hope to see the event grow for years to come. Congratulations to all who participated and helped out. Also, a big shoutout to Botanera La Loma for having concessions out all day during the tournament.
