A Watermelon Podcast: Hope Grown And The First Watermelons Of The Season At Farmers’ Market

It’s that favorite time of year in Hope, Arkansas: the watermelons are rolling in! This morning's Farmers’ Market saw the first watermelons of the season. Salinas Farms had plenty of juicy watermelons and ripe cantaloupes along with their wide selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. Also present with their equally impressive array of local, fresh produce was Arnold Farms, Heirloom Farms, and Hannah’s Berries. Farm on the Hill had fresh raised beef for patrons, Carolyn’s Kitchen had a wide assortment of baked goods, and Young Sprouts had beautifully-arranged, fresh cut flowers. Of course, no market is complete without the Mint Man, with his mint plants plus mint-themed baked goods, and David Langston, with his homemade jellies.

This week’s hospitality table was hosted by The Hope Grown Podcast crew. These ladies broadcast each week sharing events and discussing topics relevant to Hope and Hempstead County. Today, they brought a variety of treats and provided hot coffee for the hospitality table; plus, they exhibited a warm welcome to all market-goers. Jennifer Cunningham, one of the hosts of Hope Grown, shared with SWARK.Today the group’s excitement at participating in Hope Farmers’ Market this week. “We appreciate this opportunity,” said Cunningham. “Many people have heard us on the podcast, but this is the first time for us to appear in public together representing Hope Grown. This is a great way to support the community.” To listen to these lovely ladies on The Hope Grown Podcast, visit the Hempstead Hall website and select listening options.

Don't forget market fans, there will be a special market this week when the Hope Farmers’ Market presents their Independence Day Celebration. Join them Thursday, July 1st from 4pm to 7pm at the Hub for hot dogs, music, games, many more activities, plus the fresh, locally-grown produce. Bring the kiddos for a great time!

Hope Farmers’ Market is every Tuesday in downtown Hope at the Hub from 7am to 11am.
