A 2002 Toyota four-runner was traveling South on North Hazel Street when the driver, who is from the Texarkana area, attempted a left turn onto the Bill Clinton Bypass when an unidentified vehicle traveling North on North Hazel Street failed to yield at the traffic light. The driver of the Toyota attempted to swerve to avoid the other vehicle, thus causing the Toyota to hydroplane, striking a traffic signal pole.
There were no injuries to the driver of the Toyota but there was extensive damage to the vehicle.
The driver of the unidentified vehicle left the scene of the accident. The accident is being investigated by the Hope Police Department.
