The Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce is launching Adopt-A-Shop in support of local small businesses.  Adopt-A-Shop focuses on shopping & dining in your local community.Â
Starting with Small Business Saturday (November 28) and continuing through the end of the year, everyone is encouraged to adopt a local shop, which includes local eateries.  In order to fully participate, please “adopt” at least one of our local businesses by promising to shop/dine with them and show support on a weekly basis.Â
According to the United States Small Business Administration, there are 30.7 million small businesses in the United States, and they are responsible for 64.9% of net new jobs created from 2000 to 2018. Small businesses are in need of consumer spending to return to pre-COVID levels by the end of 2020 in order to stay in business. 97% of consumers who shop small agree that small businesses are essential to their community.Â
Beckie Moore, chamber director states, “The ADOPT-A-SHOP initiative will be Facebook driven & supported. We want to hear from our local community as they “adopt a business” and consistently support them from now until the end of the year. The chamber asks that you post selfies outside/inside the businesses you choose to “adopt” using #adoptashop & #bevocalaboutlocal and tag the chamber. The chamber will share your pictures as you help us help our community shop small.”
