FAYETTEVILLE -- The NBA Draft starts Wednesday night at 7 p.m. on ESPN and ABC.
Wednesday will be Round 1 (30 picks) and then Round 2 will follow on Thursday. Arkansas wing Adou Thiero, 6-6.25, 218, is expected to be the only Razorback drafted. In his only season at Arkansas, Thiero topped the Razorbacks in scoring averaging 15.1 points in 27 games. Thiero also averaged 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.7 block per game. He shot 54.5% from the field, 25.6 from beyond the arc and 68.6 at the free throw line.
Thiero is widely predicted to be a late pick in Round 1 or early in Round 2. The Athletic's Sam Vecenie has Thiero rated No. 31 in his Top 100 and projected to be drafted by the Washington Wizards at No. 40.
"Thiero has a case as the best athlete in the draft class," Vecenie said. "He's remarkably explosive in addition to being powerfully built."
Vecenie and other draft gurus have pointed to Thiero's lack of 3-point shooting success.
"It's concerning that college teams felt they could regularly play off of him at the 3-point line, and ultimately that will be the key to Thiero figuring out a high-leverage level NBA role," Vecenie said. "But Thiero is a monster in transition on offense and does an amazing job of creating action defensive plays where he can turn defense into offense."
Here's some other projections for Thiero.
