AG Rutledge comments on Biden executive order to support abortion rights

PRESS RELEASE

LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge issued a statement following President Joe Biden signing an executive order in an attempt to circumvent the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. In June, in accordance with Act 180 of 2019, Attorney General Rutledge had the privilege of certifying that the U.S. Supreme Court’s opinion in Dobbs overruled Roe v. Wade, thereby eliminating abortion in Arkansas except to save the life of a mother.

“Two weeks ago the U.S. Supreme Court correctly ruled that the Roe decision was wrong the day it was decided almost 50 years ago,” said Attorney General Rutledge. “Despite President Biden’s grandstanding, the Supreme Court made it clear that there is no constitutional right to an abortion. In Arkansas, we will always protect life!”
