Applications Sought for Board Seat

Ken McLemore

HOPE – Superintendent Dr. Bobby Hart announced today that letters of interest in the Hope Public Schools Board vacancy to be created by the retirement of Zone 3 Representative Margaret Moss are being accepted in his office.

“The HPS Board of Directors is accepting letters of interest from any registered voter in school board Zone 3,” Dr. Hart said. “Registered voters from Zone 3 should submit a letter of interest to the Superintendent’s Office located at 117 E. Second St., Hope, Ar., 71801.”

Residents of Zone 3 who wish to file for the vacancy should do so by noon May 17, he said.

“Ms. Moss declined to run for re-election in May and will be resigning her position after the May board meeting,” Hart said.

No candidates filed for the position prior to the regular filing deadline, Hart said.

Under Arkansas school law, the board must fill a vacancy within 30 days of the creation of a vacancy. Hart said the vacancy in Zone 3 will not officially occur until after the close of early/absentee voting by which the school election is conducted this year on May 11-17.
