1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

March is Arkansas Archeology Month. Historic Washington State Park will offer an online program with Dr. Carl Drexler, station archeologist at Southern Arkansas University. Cost for attendance to the program is FREE. The event will begin at 1:30pm on Saturday, March 13.

Dr. Carl Drexler is a trained historic archeologist and will talk about some of the many different finds found at Historic Washington State Park. Several treasures have been found over the years that have helped expand the interpretation of the community of Washington and how people lived in 19th century Arkansas. Such studies have been done at the Block and Sanders homes and at the old commercial district known as Block 6.

Registration is required to attend the program. Admission is FREE. Contact the park at 870-983-2684 to register by Friday, March 12 and provide a valid email address to attend online via ZOOM on Saturday, March 13.

Historic Washington State Park, a restoration village preserving one of Arkansas’ most prominent 19th century towns, is located on US 278 nine miles north of Hope and can be reached by taking Exit 30 off Interstate 30.
