The event aims to promote the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by addressing the pressing issue of hunger through collaboration. According to recent statistics, food insecurity affects millions of individuals and families across the nation, with the pandemic exacerbating the challenges faced by vulnerable communities. In response to this urgent need, UPLIFT 2024 has emerged as a beacon of hope, bringing together individuals, businesses, and organizations committed to making a positive impact.
“Our message with UPLIFT 2024 Unity in the Community” is clear — to unite our community in the fight against hunger,” DuShun Scarbrough, the commission’s executive director, said. “By harnessing the power of collaboration with the Gamma Eta Alumni Association, we believe we can make a tangible difference in addressing food insecurity in the Fayetteville area.”
Organizers are actively recruiting volunteers to assist in the distribution of food to those in need. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to participate. Interested individuals are invited to visit amlkc.eventbrite.com for more information and to sign up for volunteer opportunities.
