Arkansas NCAA Indoor track qualifiers

FAYETTEVILLE - The defending national champion/2022 SEC Indoor champion nationally No. 2 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks women’s team will have a meet meeting 17 qualified entries set next NCAA Indoor Women’s Track and Field Championships while the nationally No. 1 ranked 2022 SEC Indoor champion Arkansas Razorbacks men will have a tied with Texas Tech meet leading 11 qualified 11 entries in next week’s NCAA Indoor Men’s Track and Field Championships.

Qualifiers were NCAA announced Wednesday for March 11-12 meet at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala.

Coach Lance Harter’s Razorbacks women enter with the fastest national times in the distance medley, 10:51.63, and 4 x 400 relays, a collegiate record, 3:24.09 winning the SEC Indoor and enter SEC champion Shafiqua Maloney with the nation’s second fastest 800 meter time, 2:01.74, and freshman Britton Wilson, nationally second fastest 50.88 for 400 meters. Both Maloney and Britton run the 4 x 400 relay along with open 400-meter dash qualifiers Morgan Burks-Magee and Rosey Effiong.

Sprinter Jayla Baylark is qualified for both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes with Jayla Hollis and Joanne Reid also in the 200 and Hollis also in the 60-meter hurdles with Daszay Freeman while Quinn Owens joins Maloney in the 800.

For the distance races SEC 3,000-meter champion is qualified for both the 3,000 and 5,000 meters.

Elien Vekemans and Nastassja Campbell, first and third in the SEC pole vault, will vault in Birmingham.

For Coach Chris Bucknam’s Razorbacks men, Ayden Owens enters No. 1 in the heptathlon joined by Daniel Spejcher.

SEC 3,000-meter champion Amon Kemboi is qualified for the 3,000 and 5,000 and at the SEC anchored the NCAA qualified distance medley relay team. Arkansas also qualified its 4 x 400 relay with team member James Benson also qualified in the open 400 meters.

Phillip Lemonious is entered in the NCAA Indoor 60-meter hurdles with Kieran Taylor in the 800 while John Baker and Ryan Brown will long jump.
