ARKANSAS STATE POLICE CID INVESTIGATING SHOOTING IN DERMOTT
November 24, 2023 A 36-year-old Monticello man died as a result of a gunshot injury he sustained during an altercation inside a home in the 100 block of South Knox Street in Dermott.  At approximately 10:53 p.m. on Thursday, November 23, 2023, the Dermott Police Department (DPD) requested ASP’s Criminal Investigation Division investigate the incident.  DPD responded to a call to the home, locating victim Michael Carter in the front doorway. Carter was pronounced dead. The deceased will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab, where manner and cause of death will be determined.  Zousah Jackson, 49, was charged with Second-Degree Murder and Felon in Possession of a Firearm after turning himself in to DPD. Jackson, a California resident, was staying at a home on South Knox Street.
