The ribbon was cut Tuesday morning for the grand opening of Arkansaw Territory Country Café and Market in Falcon, Arkansas located at 3780 Highway 53.

Run by the Regina Irazarry, the café boasts a large dining area with wooden tables, a deli, a beverage and coffee stand, a vintage Pop Kola cooler, bushel baskets of potato chips in small bags, a four-shelf book and movie exchange.

Regina Irazarry said when husband Nelson retired, “We decided to come back and do something for our community.”

She grew up in a house just behind where the present-day Knight’s Heating and Air does business now, just across Highway 53 from the café. After 16 years living in various places, including Georgia, Texas, Maryland, Germany, Virginia and Kentucky, Irazarry is back where she was raised.

As to the interior, Regina Irazarry said she had a particular look in mind, “We are a country café and market so we wanted to keep everything simple and rustic, make people feel at home when they come in. We're not fancy. We're very casual.”

In the dining room stands a viewing screen which can be used to project video. In fact, it was put to use just last week. “The other day we hosted a wedding rehearsal dinner, and they wanted to have slideshows. So we put that up and had the computer set up to do that,” Regina Irazarry said. She added that eventually the café will show live playoff games that customers can watch while enjoying the café’s pizza.

The staff includes Regina’s husband, Nelson, who makes salsa sold at the café, two jars of which were offered as door-prizes today, their two teenaged boys, Christian and Connor, who help out on weekends with the dishes. The other employees are Denice Vines and Erin Barr.

The café’s menu is quite diverse, featuring hamburgers, six kinds of sandwiches, three kinds of baskets (chicken strip, chicken fried steak and hamburger steak served with fries), salads, wraps, French and seasoned fries, fried pickles and cheese, pepperoni and supreme pizzas. Fridays and Saturdays feature fish plates and Ribeye or Sirloin Steak dinners.

The café’s hours are Monday through Thursday 6:30 a.m.-3:00 pm and Friday-Saturday 7:00 am-8:00 p.m.
