Democracy In Peril: Arkansas Republicans Refuse To Stand For Moment Of Silence Marking U.S. Capitol Attack Anniversary 

LITTLE ROCK - Arkansas Republicans today chose not to stand for a moment of silence observed in the U.S. House chamber to mark the one-year anniversary of the insurrectionist attack on the U.S. Capitol that led to the death of five people including a member of the Capitol Police.

“One year ago, Americans were killed by a brutal mob while defending our nation’s Capitol building and Congress itself. Make no mistake, our democracy is still in a perilous place. We’ve all got work to do if we’re going to push back against what’s going on," said Democratic Party of Arkansas Chairman Grant Tennille. “It’s disappointing that a year later Arkansas’s Congressman still won’t speak honestly with Arkansans about the failed insurrection at the Capitol.”

Rep. Rick Crawford, Rep. French Hill, Rep. Steve Womack, and Rep. Bruce Westerman all failed to attend the national observance in the U.S. House chambers on Thursday. Congressman Crawford was the only member of Arkansas’s delegation to object to President-elect Joe Biden's win after a violent mob stormed the Capitol and stopped the certification for several hours before ultimately failing.
