Hope, Ark. – Southwest Arkansas Arts Council (SWAAC) announces opportunities for summer art experiences. SWAAC’s has planned a new slate of summer camps that are geared for school-age students. New this year is the ability for students to drop in for a day. However, parents must arrange for drop-in 24 hours in advance.
Art With Textiles is a summer camp that is focused on seven to 12-year-olds and using different forms of textile materials. Projects will use fabric, yarn, string and paint to make and build creations straight from the student’s mind. Participants will have daily projects that will be designed completely by them. Art with Textiles runs July 17 th - July 20th from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
The Collage Making camp will provide students with several unique collage projects. The projects will range from mystery bag art, 3D mobile to Picasso collages. Students will use different kinds of individual materials to create and make each project all their own design. Collage Making camp runs July 24 th – July 28 th from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
The Intermediate Youth Painting Summer class is designed to practice and increase the student’s knowledge of painting techniques and composition. Students will have daily activities that will challenge their perspective and abilities. As a main focus, students will complete one major painting by the end of class. The Intermediate Youth Painting Summer Class runs July 31 st – August 3 rd from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
The Advanced Youth Sketching workshop will take students beyond the basics and broaden their techniques and skills. Students will have daily sketch challenges and will work on a single piece each day that will culminate in one large, detailed project. The Advance Youth Sketching workshop runs July 31 st – August 3 rd from 1:00pm to 4pm.
All Classes are $40 for nonmembers, $35 for members and $10 a day for drop-ins. Each session will be held at the Art Station, 200 East Division Street, Hope.
