At Fat Tony’s last night, the restaurant continued its string of hosting country music shows on irregular Tuesday evenings, starting at 6:00 p.m.
Guest performers Ashley Blanton and Many Others brought guitar and bass and lent their three voices to several country standards. Blanton and niece Ali Marie Stroud hail from Gurdon. Bassist Kristian Miller, deployed from her regular gig with Hot Springs area country band Posey Hill was one of the Others as well. Blanton said her son Carter Parker and Grayson Goff also appear with the group.
The three ladies contributed shimmering vocals to country standards during the evening as diners looked on and frequently applauded. Incredibly, after the show, Blanton would confess this was the trio’s first public performance together and they were still working things out. But aside from a couple false starts, one would never know. Blanton said now that her children can take care of themselves, it frees her to spend more time with niece Stroud and friend Miller developing her skills and writing songs.
Also taking the mic was guitarist, singer, UAHT business professor and author Rachel Parson. She impressed with several songs and got an enthusiastic reception.
Fat Tony’s will be hosting country music again July 14th.
