LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge today announced a $50,000 allocation to the Arkansas Medal of Honor Commission’s memorial on the Arkansas State Capitol grounds. The funds will be used to restore deteriorated portions of the monument as well as recognize three additional Arkansas Medal of Honor recipients by affixing plaques with each of their names to the memorial. The funds will be allocated from the consumer education and enforcement fund.

“This memorial honors our state’s Veterans who have made tremendous sacrifices for our great nation,” said Attorney General Leslie Rutledge. “As the daughter of a Veteran, I am humbled and honored by the 27 Arkansans represented at the memorial, and I am proud to make a small contribution that will enable future generations to reflect on the great sacrifices made by Arkansas Veterans.”

Rutledge has been an active supporter of Veterans. In 2019, she allocated $750,000 to create the University of Arkansas Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law’s Veterans Legal Services Clinic. The first clinic of its kind in Arkansas, the program will enable enrolled Bowen law students to provide pro bono legal services to Veterans throughout the state. Rutledge has also invested in several Veterans health care programs, Jonesboro’s Veterans Village, the opening of Veteran Service Offices statewide, the National Guard Foundation. In 2015, Rutledge launched the first-ever Military and Veterans Initiative at the Attorney General’s office to assist active duty military service members, reservists, veterans and their families with consumer-related issues, and many other collaborative efforts.
