Horatio- The Spring Hill Bears found themselves in a battle against the #1 Seed team from Woodlawn Thursday morning as the game was tied at 5-5 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning. Woodlawn would bring across 4 runs in the 6th inning and hold Spring Hill in the 7th to clinch the game 9-5. In a game where Spring Hill outhit Woodlawn 11 to 7, the self-inflicted damage was just a little too much for the Bears to overcome. Spring Hill jumped out to an early lead as they pushed across 4 runs in the top of the 1st as Zane Minton and Mason Moore each hit singles to start the game off. Jayce Moore would then single knocking in 2 runs. Two very productive outs from Carson Moore and Levin McGuire would score 2 more runs. Woodlawn would chip away and eventually take the lead headed into the 5th inning 5-4. Zane Minton would tie the game up in the 5th as he roped a single to CF driving in Levin McGuire to tie the game at 5-5. The Bears would set themselves up in the 6th to break the tie, but a Bear was thrown out at home trying to score the go-ahead run. The inning would then stall out and Woodlawn would turn around and score 4 runs in their next at-bat to take a 9-5 lead, and that is how the game would and the Bears season would end. The Bears played a great brand of baseball all year and fell just short on a trip to the State Tournament in Greenland. Andrew Carillo got the nod from Coach Loe to take the mound, Carillo settled in after the 1st inning and pitched very well striking out 3 hitters in 3.1 innings, allowing only 2 hits. Jayce Moore would come in and get out of a jam in the 4th inning with a big strikeout. Moore would pitch into the 6th and Reese Tarver would finish the game on the mound for the Bears. Offensively, the Bears tallied 11 hits including 3 hits from both Mason and Jayce Moore who were a nightmare for Woodlawn pitching all game. Zane Minton would add 2 hits of his own. Andrew Carillo, Levin McGuire, and Teyton Barton would each add a base knock. Great season from the Bears this year.
