Bears Ready for State Tourney
Spring Hill- The Spring Hill Bears are set to begin their State Tournament run on Thursday, as they begin with a matchup against McCrory in Palestine-Wheatley. The Bears are coming off an 8-3 win over Murfreesboro in the 3rd place game last weekend in the Regional Tournament.

McCrory is the 2-seed out of Region 3, as they went 2-1 last weekend with wins over Southside and Des Arc, before falling to Conway Christian in the Regional Finals 12-8.

Pitchers for the Bears have been a strong part of this team, as Mason Moore and Karson Hamilton have been the leaders of that rotation this season. The two juniors have been excellent all season, especially through conference play. Reese Tarver was another big piece of this pitching staff this year. Tarver tossed the third most innings this season for Spring Hill. Reed Fisher has tossed some big innings for the Bears. One of the strengths of this team is its depth, as they have a good amount of arms, especially at the 2A level, where they have around 7-8 guys who has gotten outs this season.

Defensively, the Bears have been really solid all year. Limiting the errors, especially in big moments. Behind the plate, Mason Moore and Karson Hamilton have shared the work, depending on who’s pitching. Infielders Brady Rhodes, Jaxon Smith, Collin Overton, and Andrew Carrillo have been great. Maddox Dickson got a lot of innings at first base this season as well. Reese Tarver mans CF for the Bears, Reed Fisher, Jackson Putz, Reese Tarver and others man the outfield, as they make all the plays necessary to win games.

At the plate, the Bears have been a relentless group. The fight in this team is no joke, as they will scratch, claw, and find ways to get on base and score runs. Gritty is a well-used word to describe this group.

The Bears are set to play at 5:30 on Thursday. With a win, the Bears will play the winner of the Life Way Christian vs Corning game.
