HOPE – Open House for students in the Hope Public Schools will be announced by individual campus principals prior to the designated start of school on Aug. 24 as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. Protocols for Open House at Beryl Henry Elementary School have been set by BHE Principal Dr. Roy Turner.
“Beryl Henry Elementary School will host Open House on Aug. 11, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.,” Dr. Turner said. “In order to promote safety for everyone and limit large groups of people from entering the building at the same times, we are asking that you follow the guidelines listed for Open House.”
Those guidelines include:
--Masks are mandated to be worn, and we ask that you comply with the mandate.
--Only the guardians and the Beryl Henry student should attend; please do not bring other family members.
--Before anyone is allowed to enter the building, they must follow our safety screening protocol which involves having your temperature checked.
Specific Open House conference times have been assigned for both fifth and sixth grade students based upon the child’s last name, as follows:
3:30-4:30 p.m. – A through G.
4:30-5:30 p.m. – H through M.
5:30-6:30 p.m. – N through T.
6:30-7:30 p.m. – U through Z.
“In order to meet with your child’s homeroom teacher, we recommend you follow the listed conference times for your child,” Turner said.
Entrance and exit of building protocols have also been established, he said.
Fifth grade – Enter through cafeteria lobby; visit only homeroom teacher; collect registration packet; exit on bus line side of the building.
Sixth grade – Enter through main entrance; visit only homeroom teacher; collect registration packet; exit on bus line side of the building.
“We will have staff members to give you assistance on where to enter and exit,” Turner said. “Please fill out registration packets at home and have your child bring the completed packets back to school on the beginning school day. This includes students whose parents have elected Hope from Home Virtual Academy.”
Turner said special provision has been made for students and parents unable to attend the regular Open House.
“If you are unable to attend Open House, you may come by the school to pick up your child’s registration packet from the office on Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.,” he said.
