The fields at Blevins Elementary School were overflowing last night as numerous locals showed up to participate in the Blevins 4th of July Celebration. The event was planned and facilitated by the Blevins Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD), and they did not disappoint. Guests of all ages seemed thrilled with the fireworks display, as well as the hot dogs and chips that were provided prior to the main event. Many in attendance were decked out in their 4th of July attire, and even Dr. Freel was spotted in his American flag themed shirt as he waited for the show to begin.
The SWARK.Today reporter caught up with the Devenney boys, Reagan (4), Ryder (7), and Ryan (11), just before the fireworks started and all three boys said they were very excited to see the show. The Van Camp girls, Addison (9) and Dawson (5), concurred and said they couldn't wait for the show to start. When the fireworks began and the sky was illuminated with the dazzle of bright lights, so too were the faces of these kiddos who were delighted with the display.
BVFD Tim Choate said he and fellow BVFD members look forward to this event every year. "We want to give back to the community in any way we can, and we enjoy getting together with everyone for some food, entertainment, and family fun while also celebrating our independence," Choate said. This year marks the twelfth annual 4th of July Celebration that the BVFD has hosted for the community.
