In a opening half where there was not a shortage of whistles, the Blue Jays found three starters in foul within the first 10 minutes of the game. Bradley took a lead with a few minutes remaining in the first half, but senior Kobe Hughey got the Jays back on track, as they went on a 9-0 run to take the lead back before the break. "Kobe he settled us down offensively, we were struggling and he got going at the high post in the 2nd quarter, his hard work he put in in the offseason is showing right now," as Coach Eddie Beck praised his senior at an interview at the Waffle House after the game.
Nevada would begin the 2nd half with a 5-point lead and after a very chippy 3rd quarter, Nevada got rolling and the rest was history, as they had a 28 point lead late in the game on the way to a 65-40 road win. "At the end we knew we were the better team, they came out with more energy than us but we had to pack em out and play defense," sophomore Taco Roberson said after the game.
Kobe Hughey led the way for the Jays with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Keyonte Wingfield played through some foul trouble in the first half and finished the night with 16 points and 4 assists. Taco Roberson scored 8 points, Monti Mixon had 6 points and 10 rebounds. Reid Casey poured in 5 points, Rico Aparicio and Jordyn Harris each had 4 points, and Tre King had 1 point.
Nevada is back in action on Friday as they travel to Sacred Heart for a non-conference game.
