The players and Coach Bell have been waiting all week for their first chance to play in front of the loud home crowd, especially against a great opponent like Bradley. “The atmosphere was electric Friday night. The crowd brought a lot of energy and our guys fed off it,” Bell said of the home-opener.
Nevada had 41 points at the half and did not take their foot off the gas pedal, as they scored another 40 points in the 2nd half to win the game 81-75. Kavion Coleman and Brycten Harris went off on Friday night as they combined for 56 points. Kavion Coleman shot the lights out with 29 points (24 of them coming in the first half), including seven 3-pointers, Coleman also grabbed 8 boards and had 3 assists.
Brycten Harris had a heck of a game with 27 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and did a great job running the offense and keeping the tempo up. Keyonte Wingfield scored 11 points and added 4 boards, and 3 assists for the Blue Jays and played with a lot of energy, and Cardi Adair added 7 points and 8 rebounds. The Blue Jays now sport a 5-0 record and are back in action Tuesday as they host Kirby.
In Junior action the Blue Jays won an OT thriller as they defeated Bradley 56-54. Jakari Roberson scorched the nets for 18 points, including six huge points in OT to lead the Jays. Mauri Mitchell and Monti Mixon each scored 12 points to help lead Nevada to another victory.
