Blue Jays Defense Plays Big as They Beat Lafayette Co. 58-47
Dierks- Nevada (9-1) started out the game with a 20-point first quarter, as they grabbed a 20-11 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The Blue Jays put the clamps on the Cougars, as they never allowed more than 13 points in any quarter, as they limited Lafayette to under 50 points. The on-ball defense from Keyonte Wingfield was elite, the effort from Caleb Moss was top-notch, and freshman Monti Mixon had some big blocks at the rim late in the game to deny any sort of comeback from the Cougars. "Defense won us that game, offensively we were no where near our best and that is on me, I will take responsibility for that," Coach Mario Bell said after the game as he spoke on the win.

Kavion Coleman led all scorers with 17 points, including 12 in the opening half. Coleman posts another double-double, as he is a great rebounder at the guard position, bringing down 12 rebounds. "They were a tough team to play against, their defense was good, glad to have that win, we got it done on the defensive end," senior standout Kavion Coleman said after the game. Keyonte Wingfield had 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Monti Mixon had 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 big blocks Saturday. Kobe Hughey played very well, as he scored 8 piopnts, had 7 rebounds, and 2 steals. Justin Myrick knocked down a pair of 3's for six points, Brogan Rhodes had 4 points and 4 rebounds, and Caleb Moss had 3 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

The Blue Jays will head to Vilonia on Monday for a non-conference matchup.
