In the third quarter, Kavion Coleman got going, scoring 11 points in the 3rd, as he had to sit a big part of the opening half with 2 fouls. Nevada outscored Vilonia 18-14 to cut the lead to four. After a Coleman and-1 bucket, Vilonia crashed the offensive glass and got multiple extra looks, and nailed a 3-pointer to retake the lead. The third quarter would end with Vilonia up 45-41.
In the final quarter, the Blue Jays continued to fight, but would come up just short in the comeback, as the Eagles hit their free-throws late and Nevada would drop the game 60-52. "We were right there, just a few possessions where they got second and third chances and they capitalized on us not blocking out, really good game, we play these tougher games for a reason and I think we will grow from this loss," Coach Jamario Bell said after the game.
Three Blue Jays were in double figures on Monday, as Kav Coleman led the way with 17 points, 15 of which came in the second half. Kobe Hughey had 11 points with 3 assists, as he made some really tough shots. Freshman Monti Mixon continues to grow as the year progresses, as he finished with 10 points and 6 boards. Keyonte Wingfield had 9 points and 4 assists. Justin Myrick hit a big three-pointer late in the 2nd half and Brogan Rhodes finished with 2 points and 4 rebounds.
Nevada is back in action on Monday as they head to Mineral Springs for their conference opener.
