Bearden- The Blue Jays wasted little time getting back to their winning ways on Thursday night as they jumped out to a 24-6 lead after the opening quarter as they knocked down five 3-pointers, and Kavion Coleman scored 11 in the first quarter as they Jays never looked back as they improved to 9-1 in conference play. Nevada displayed great team defense in the first half, only allowing 14 points total, as Nevada took a 37-12 lead at the break. A big reason for the success of the Blue Jays team this year is understanding how important the first 4 minutes of the second half are, and Coach Bell preaches finishing the first half strong and coming out of halftime with a lot of intensity. Nevada scored 27 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach, as they won the game 77-35. "We got back on track tonight, we shot better and our effort was there and we came out with a big road win," Coach Mario Bell said after the Blue Jays earned their 9th conference win of the season.
Kavion Coleman led the Jays in scoring with 20 points, Coleman also grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 3 assists. Brycten Harris continues to display an excellent brand of basketball as he scored 18 points, had 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. Harris' leadership on the court continues to be a difference maker for Nevada. Keyonte Wingfield continues to play great as he finishes the game with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Caleb Moss had 6 points and played great defense with 4 steals, and Kobe Hughey had 4 points and 5 rebounds, Kobe also added 2 steals.
Nevada is back in action on Friday as they host Friendship Aspire.
