Enter Kavion Coleman, as the senior came out in the 2nd half on fire, as he poured in four 3-pointers in the 3rd quarter alone, on consecutive possessions at that to give Nevada a 39-36 lead going into the final quarter. The Blue Jays defense locked in for the final stretch of the game, allowing just 2 points in the final quarter, as Coleman mad two more big 3's in the 4th quarter to lead the Jays to a 50-38 win over the Dragons. "Defense won this one, we sped them up with our pressure and we hit some shots down the stretch, I started of slow but i got hot towards the end," Kavion Coleman said after the game as he spoke on the win.
Coleman finished the night with 30 points, including eight 3-pointers, six of which came in the 2nd half. Keyonte WIngfield scored 5 points and played great on the defensive end of the floor. Kobe Hughey, Caleb Moss, and Monti Mixon each scored 4 points, and Brogan Rhodes scored 3 points.
Peyton Hicks led the way for the Dragons with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Nathaniel Thomas poured in 12 points for Genoa, and Brayden Cobb knocked down a 3-pointer and had 3 steals. Michael Harper had 2 points and Austin Pell scored 1 point and had 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Brody Helms had 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
Both teams got after it defensively all game long, great basketball game for both teams that should help both teams in tournament time. Nevada is off until next Friday when they host Emerson. Genoa Central is back in action Friday night in a big conference matchup with the current #1 seeded Fouke in Genoa.
