"Yeah we came out ready tonight. Our defense set the tone. Kobe and Monti got us going on offense, with Keyonte racking up assists in the first half. Great team win," Coach Eddie Beck said after the game.
In the second half, Nevada scored 26 in the third quarter to put the game completely away, leading to a 77-39 win to improve to 7-1 in conference play.
Kobe Hughey paced the Jays offense with 27 points, 20 of which came in the first half. Monti Mixon poured in 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Rico Aparicio scored 11 points. Keyonte Wingfield led Nevada with 10 assists and added five points and seven rebounds. Tre King scored seven, Jordyn Harris added five points and Colton Burns, Taco Roberson, and Hurk Burns each added a bucket.
Nevada is back in action on Thursday as they host Mineral Springs in a key conference matchup and the Blue Jays' homecoming game.
