Blue Jays Soar Past Mineral Springs and Into the Finals with 70-54 Win
Nevada- The Blue Jays got off to a hot start on Friday night, as they took a 19-9 advantage after the opening quarter. The Blue Jays offense would score even more in the 2nd quarter, as they poured in 23 second quarter points to take a 42-22 lead into the break behind 11 first half points from both Kavion Coleman and Justin Myrick. Even with a big lead at the break, the Jays missed a combined 10 free throws in the opening half, as they could have really put the game out of reach early on.

Nevada would add to their lead in the third quarter and cruised to a 70-54 win over Mineral Springs to clinch a spot in the Championship game on Saturday night against Kirby. "Defense got us the dub tonight, tomorrow night is going to be a dogfight for sure, we gotta get the defense going," Kav Coleman said as he spoke on the win and the upcoming matchup against Kirby.

Kavion Coleman led the way for Nevada, scoring 19 points. Justin Myrick got hot in the first half, knocking down three 3-pointers, and finishing the game with 13 points. Keyonte Wingfield poured in 12 points and did a great job controlling the tempo of the game for Nevada. Brogan Rhodes scored 7 points, Kobe Hughey and Caleb Moss each scored 6 points, and Monti Mixon added 4 points. Rico Aparicio scored 3 points to round out the scoring for Nevada.

Championship game is scheduled for 6:30, as the Blue Jays and Trojans are set to battle it out for the championship and the #1 seed heading into next weeks Regional Tournament.
