Blue Jays Soar Past Warriors 74-42 in Home-Opener
Nevada- Game two for Blue Jays basketball was underway on Monday night and Nevada (2-0) did not disappoint the home crowd, as they soared to a 74-42 victory over Ouachita. The Blue Jays wasted little time getting going on Monday, as they scored 20 points in the opening quarter, including 8 points from Kavion Coleman. Nevada would then extend their lead in the second quarter to 35-15 as they headed into the break with a 15-point lead. The third quarter last year was a key one for the Blue Jays success and they exploded for 26 points in the 3rd quarter, and 10 of those points coming from Kobe Hughey to put the game out of reach. The Jays would cruise in the fourth quarter to a 32-point win. "We got better, we made plays and we really improved from our opener last Friday," Coach Mario Bell said about his guys after Mondays win.

Kav Coleman led the way for Nevada with 20 points, as he is proving to be a problem for opposing teams. Kobe Hughey poured in 12 points for the Jays and Brogan Rhodes scored 11 points, including a pair of 3-pointers in the 2nd quarter. Keyonte Wingfield added 9 points and did a great job of controlling the tempo of the game and making plays for his teammates. Freshman Monti Mixon added 7 points and Justin Myrick added two 3-pointers to finish the game with 6. Rico Aparico had 4 points, Caleb Moss added 3, and Hurkilis Barus added 2 points.

Nevada is back in action on Thursday as they head to Bradley for a showdown with the Bears.
