Bobcats Drop Tough Game to Camden HG on Thursday

Bobcats Drop Tough Game to Camden HG on Thursday
Hope- The Hope Bobcats baseball team hosted the Camden Harmony Grove Hornets on Thursday night in a non-conference game. Hope jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning, as Hope took advantage of a couple of Hornet mishaps and Jack Johnson drove in Jaiden Brown on a groundout. In the bottom of the 4th inning, Aiden Collums-Dean laid down a sac bunt to score Israel Juarez to give Hope a 3-1 lead. The next at-bat, Jaiden Brown drives in a pair of runs on a single to CF. Hope headed into the top of the 6th with a 6-1 lead, but could not collect those final six outs before the Hornets took the lead, with a 4-spot in the 6th and a 7-spot in the 7th. Hope fought back in the bottom of the sixth to score 4 runs of their own, but that 7th inning was tough to overcome, as Camden HG won the game 12-10.

Head Coach Brandon Martindale gave the nod to junior pitcher Israel Juarez on Thursday night  and Juarez did a great job on the bump for the Bobcats. Juarez allowed just 2 ER, allowing just 2 hits in 5 2/3 innings of work, striking out 9 batters.

At the plate, the Bobcats banged out 9 hits on the game, with four Bobcats having a multi-hit night. Jack Johnson led the way with a double, single, and 3 RBI. Jaiden Brown had 2 singles and 2 RBI. Israel Juarez had 2 singles and 1 RBI, while Austin Courtney reached base safely three times with 2 singles and a walk. Donny Reaves added a single for the Bobcats. Aiden Collums-Dean had an RBI, a run scored, and a walk.

The Bobcats are back in action on Tuesday April 1st as they host DeQueen in a conference game. Be sure to come out and support these Bobcats as this baseball program is trending in the right direction.
