Coach Turner and the Bobcats came out fighting early in this one as points were hard to come by early on in this one, as neither team found pay-dirt until Ashdown scored on a 3-yard TD run. That would be all the scoring in the opening half as the Panthers would head into the break with a 6-0 lead.Â
The Bobcats would fight back in the third quarter and take a 14-12 lead later on in the 2nd half on a pair of Zyun Brown TD runs and two Josh Ramos PATs. Ashdown would rally and punch in a score to take the lead in the 4th quarter and add on a late TD to extend their lead to 26-14, as that would be the final score.Â
Zyun Brown played a lot of snaps at the quarterback position and moved the ball very well and showed off his dual-threat ability as he totaled for 47 yards rushing and 2 TDs, as well as making some really good throws. Jaiden Brown had 2 catches for 22 yards, Tra Gomer had 77 yards on the ground and ran the ball extremely hard all game. Defensively, Christian Matlock played lights out as he had 9 tackles, 4 of which were for a loss, 3 sacks, and forced a fumble. Joel Bello had 6 tackles, 1 sack, and recovered a fumble. Lanod Westmoreland had 8 tackes, while Kentorian Cheatham had 1 INT, another pass break-up, and a tackle. Cheatham was not tested much after that early interception, as he limited the Panther wideouts to next to nothing.Â
The Bobcats showed a lot of fight on Friday night and they will look to piggy-back off of that performance as they head to Prescott for a date with the Curley Wolves.Â
