Hope- It is week 8 of Bobcats football and Hope (2-5) (1-3) is still in control of its own destiny as they play host to Camden Fairview (5-2) (3-1) Friday night in a must-win game for both teams. “We’re still fighting for a playoff spot, we have to show up, execute, and finish”, Coach Turner said Wednesday at practice. Defensively, the big play has been the Bobcats defense kryptonite as opposing teams rarely sustain drives against Hope, it has pretty much been a big play, or they have forced a turnover or forced a punt. “Limit the big plays”, Turner has said that all season long, if they do, that they match up well against anyone. The play of KD Gulley, Juan Ortiz, and Jalen Staggers has been great at the LB spot. “Expect us to force a lot of turnovers, we’re the JackBoyz, we plan on locking them down Friday”, Jacolby Scott spoke on the defense Wednesday. Expect Coach Clark to have a great game plane and to have the defense ready to play. Camden is a very athletic football team and Hope will definitely need to apply pressure to the QB and not let their offense get comfortable.
Offensively, Tyler Patterson will look to get the offense rolling this week, as I believe their best football is still ahead of them. Coach E has a great game plan in place, and when the Bobcat offense operates in a rhythm, they have proven they are difficult to defend. Senior Donovan Jones spoke on the offense Wednesday, “Expect us to come out strong, hit them in the mouth, and come out and get this W.” The running game could play a huge role on Friday night, Tamorrion Lindsey and KD Gulley could have big nights, and the change of pace skillset of Donovan Jones could add another dimension to this Bobcat offense. Isaac Love and Jay Monk are both threats for a big game against the Camden secondary, as Love leads the team with 7 receiving TDs. Kickoff is set for 7PM. Go Bobcats!!
