Briefest of Hempstead Quorum Court meetings held Thursday evening

The Hempstead Quorum Court gathered Thursday evening for perhaps the shortest meeting in recent memory, this one the May regular meeting.

County Judge Jerry Crane brought the meeting into order and an invocation was said by Justice of the Peace Jessie Henry. A pledge of allegiance was taken to the U.S. flag. Then Justice of the Peace David Clayton made a motion that the meeting be adjourned.

It was then adjourned upon a unanimous vote.

After the short meeting, Judge Crane pointed out there was nothing on the agenda and that he had given the word the meeting was to be short and sweet.

It was that and it allowed two JPs and one County Clerk who were volunteering their time at the Lions Club fish fry fundraiser for the Charitable Christian Medical Clinic to get back to the Coliseum to resume their work, while others could get back to watching Arkansas against LSU in the SEC baseball tournament.
