HOPE – Six cadets from the Hope High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps unit have completed the Arkansas Cadet Leadership Course.

The course was conducted at Jacksonville North Pulaski High School with cadets Alana Flenory, Zy’Kell Farris, Anthony Hall, Margauxsoul MacLaughlin, Damaris Martinez, and Paige Shroads enrolled.

“During this course, the cadets learned about the military, JROTC and leadership techniques,” HHS Senior Aerospace Science Instructor Lieutenant Colonel, USAF (Retired), Mark Hart said. “The cadets were introduced to military daily activities and heard from military leaders.”

The contingent visited Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville, Camp Robinson Army National Guard Post, the Arkansas Capitol and the Douglas MacArthur Military Museum in Little Rock during the course. Cadets toured USAF aircraft, took target training, participated in drill and color guard training, and had the opportunity to sit behind the stick in the cockpit of a C-130 Hercules.

The C-130 is the workhorse aircraft of the 189 th Airlift Wing (Air National Guard) and the 913th Airlift Wing (913th Airlift Group, 22 nd Air Force), 19 th Airlift Wing (Air Mobility Command). The 19th AWC supports the world’s largest C-130 fleet.
