“We deserve a member of Congress who answers to the people of Arkansas - not to his party leaders”

Fayetteville, Arkansas – Today, Democrat Caitlin Draper, a clinical social worker, small business owner, and community advocate, announced she is running to represent Arkansas's 3rd Congressional District. The announcement comes as incumbent Congressman Steve Womack stands at the center of the ongoing chaos initiated by House Republicans, who have been unable to select a Speaker for 21 days despite concurrent crises at home and abroad.

“We deserve a member of Congress who answers to the people of Arkansas - not to his party leaders. As a community member who cares deeply about our neighbors in Arkansas, I have been outraged at our elected leaders’ willingness to strip away our rights and failure to deliver on their most basic responsibilities to the American people,” said Caitlin Draper. “From restoring reproductive freedom to lowering costs for working families, in Congress I will fight everyday to protect our democracy and deliver for the people of Arkansas with empathy, compassion, and accountability. Our families deserve no less.”

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a clinical focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder and eating disorders, Caitlin has made it her mission to improve the lives of children and families in Northwest Arkansas Corridor. Her extensive professional background includes a successful private practice, where she has provided invaluable support to those facing these challenges and has had a front row seat to the destruction Republicans’ extreme power grabs have had on women and LGBTQ families.

Beyond her clinical practice, Caitlin serves as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Arkansas School of Social Work, where she has inspired and educated the next generation of social workers. Her commitment to higher education and her students is indicative of her passion for positive change and progress.

Caitlin Draper believes strongly in empathy, education, and community. That’s why her campaign will focus on lowering the cost of living and healthcare for families, protecting public education and reproductive rights, and addressing the climate crisis. Draper lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with her husband. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
