Cars, Cooking, and Cornhole: Hope Train Day contest winners announced

Hope Train Day, hosted and funded by the Hope Tourism Commission, had a variety of attractions which brought in the crowds, but some of the most popular draws of the day were the contests. A car show, a cornhole tourney, and a rib cook-off were huge highlights of the day.

Plow Boys Car Show:

Everyone's favorite local car club hosted a car show this morning, and quite a few winners were announced at its close. After Train Day attendees received the chance to stroll up and down Main Street and admire the cars and trucks, both classic and new, the judging commenced and the winners were announced. Hannah Story took away three trophies, including Best in Show and Club Choice Award, for her 1969 Corvette Stingray. The full list of winners are as follows:

Cornhole Tournament

A Cornhole Tournament took place behind the senior citizens center on Division Street, and after a few hours of firece competition, the winners were announced.

1st place - Daniel and Hopie
2nd place - Justin and Ant Man
3rd place - Josh and Matt

Rib Cook-off

The winners of the barbecue rib competition was announced at around 4:20 p.m. from the stage by Sharon Caldwell, part owner of Tailgaters and Chair of the Hope Advertising and Tourist Promotion Commission and Summer Powell, Superintendent of Hope Parks and Recreation. First place, which won $1,250 was Brothers Barbecue from Memphis. Second, winning $750, was Lee and Sons. Third, winning $350, was King of Que. SWARK.Today asked Brothers Barbecue what was in their sauce, "Something red," was the only response.
