Carter Wilcox is a 4th grader at CPS who started "Carter's Class" in 2023 after he noticed that not all of his fellow students could purchase books at the book fair. The program also receives matching funds from Scholastic Books, the operator of the book fair. Future plans include small reading groups to help encourage students to read. Carter says, "It’s one thing to get kids books, but it’s another to get them to read."
