The Hope City Mayor Don Stills, will read the official proclamation, declaring April as Child Abuse Prevention Month and highlighting the importance of supporting children and families impacted by abuse. Community members are encouraged to attend and stand in solidarity with children who have experienced abuse or neglect.

Get Involved: Become a CASA Volunteer

Currently, 16 children in foster care in Hempstead County are without a dedicated Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). CASA volunteers are trained community members who advocate for the best interests of children in the foster care system, ensuring their voices are heard in court and their needs are met.

“Every child in foster care deserves a committed advocate by their side—someone who will speak up for them in court, in school, and in the child welfare system,” said CASA Executive Director Malenda Cree. “We need more volunteers willing to take a stand for children right here in Hempstead County.”
