GENTRY, Ark. (April 18, 2024) – Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) invites the community to come together for a meaningful celebration of both Earth Day and Arbor
Day. Join us on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the
Eagle
 Watch Nature Trail
in Gentry, Arkansas, for a day dedicated to environmental stewardship and learning.

Eagle Watch Nature Trail, part of SWEPCO's commitment to environmental stewardship, is a sanctuary for wildlife and a haven for nature enthusiasts. The trail features a variety
of ecosystems and is particularly noted for its bald eagle sightings, making it a prime location for bird watchers and conservationists. More information about the trail and SWEPCO's environmental initiatives can be found at
https://www.swepco.com/clean-energy/environment/eagle-watch.

The Earth Day/Arbor Day celebration & hands-on volunteering event will take place at 21721-21779 AR-12, Gentry, AR 72734. Families, friends and individuals of all ages, including
children, are encouraged to participate in this hands-on volunteer opportunity to plant trees and native pollinator plants. These activities are designed to beautify the trail and support the local wildlife and ecosystem.

“This event is a fantastic opportunity for participants to connect with their community, learn about environmental science, and make a tangible impact on their local environment,”
said SWEPCO Environmental & Lab Supervisor Ivaunna Neigler.

The event will feature a presentation by University of Arkansas Professor Don Steinkraus, who will discuss the critical role of pollinating insects and birds in maintaining
healthy ecosystems. His remarks will highlight the importance of biodiversity and how individuals can contribute to environmental conservation efforts.

Local 4-H groups will be joining SWEPCO at the event.

Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy a day in nature on the beautiful Eagle Watch Nature Trail.

“Bring your gardening gloves, a water bottle and your enthusiasm for nature!” Neigler encouraged.
